Ineke became interested in Rotary when she was appointed Principal of a Montessori school in the Swan Valley. Her initial thoughts were that Rotary might help lift the profile of the school in the area but within just a few meetings, her views changed from what Rotary could do for the school, to what could the school do to support Rotary.
Ineke has been a member of the Rotary Club of Swan Valley since 2008 and in that time has been President (twice), Secretary and held Directorships for Foundation, Community and Youth. She has been a member of the District Membership Committee since 2018. More recently Ineke has been instrumental in the merger of the Rotary Clubs of Midland and Swan Valley and an increased level of activity in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Swan Districts.
Geoff and Ineke met and married in Orange NSW, then moved to Canberra before coming to Perth in 1983. Shortly afterwards they started their own film production company with Ineke providing the bookkeeping services. Prior to moving the family to Singapore for a few years in the early 1990’s, Ineke was a legal secretary for law firms in Canberra and in Perth, ranging from commercial to criminal defense in Canberra and in Perth. In Singapore Ineke was introduced to the Montessori method of education and began her teaching career. She retired from her fulltime Principal position in 2018 and now works on a part-time basis as a Lead Auditor (Quality Management Systems) and consultant, working together with Geoff in their own consultancy business for Registered Training Organisations, Compass Support.
During her adult life Ineke has always been involved in voluntary organisations and held committee positions, including sport (badminton), schools (inaugural secretary of the P & C for the Australian International School in Singapore), professional associations for teachers and Montessori organisations at a state and national level. Ineke was also one of the writers of the Montessori National Curriculum, accredited across Australia.
Ineke has played guitar since she was 12 and performed professionally as a singer at weddings, restaurant, parties etc. including providing music sessions for schools. Ineke and Geoff have two children and three young grandsons and enjoy travelling and spending time with family. They have travelled internationally and across Australia (twice in their caravan) and are keen to see more of WA.
