Australian Rotary Health WA Mental Health PhD Award


Description of the Award

This award recognises local researchers, from universities in Western Australia, who have completed an excellent PhD thesis in a mental health field. That is, research that makes an outstanding contribution to the understanding and promotion of mental health, or understanding, prevention or treatment of mental illness. Up to three awards may be given each year.


Nominees must have completed their PhD, with the research topic being relevant to the mental health field. The conferral date of the PhD must be within 12 months of the award nomination closing date.

Benefits of the Award

  • Awardee names, bios, and thesis titles/lay research summaries will be listed and promoted online through Australian Rotary Health and Rotary channels.
  • Awards will be presented to winners at a prominent Rotary event.

Nomination Process

Each School or Department from a WA university may submit one nomination. Nominations are made by the Head of School or Department where the nominee completed their PhD. The nomination should be made by the School or Department Head in collaboration with the nominee and their PhD supervisors. 
Nominations should include the following attached documents:
  • Completed nomination form (download PDF - MS Word)
  • Copy of the nominee's PhD examiner reports.
  • Copy of the nominee's PhD thesis.
  • A list of the peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations derived directly from the PhD.
    (The publication list should include the impact factor and quartile of the journal, and the Scopus field-weighted citation impact of the article.)
  • Nominee's CV.

Nomination Closing Date

Nominations for the 2021 award are due by 30 November 11:59pm AWST. Nominees and their Head of School will be informed of the result (via email) within six (6) weeks of this date.

Submitting a Nomination

To submit a nomination, the nominee's Head of School or Department should email all the required documents to by the closing date.
