At 17, Matt first connected with Kalamunda Rotary when they sponsored him to attend the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra. The experience opened his eyes to a world of passionate and energetic people.

From there, Matt helped form the Rotaract Club of Kalamunda with a number of hills locals in 2016 and is still an active member.

On encouragement from Kalamunda Rotary he attended both RYLA and RYLEAP, experiences he describes as deeply moving and character building. The lessons Matt learnt about the benefits of giving back and fostering strong communities motivated him to complete a Master's of Teaching.

Currently, he is in his first term as a graduate teacher in the hills and is hugely grateful for the support and mentoring that both Rotarians, and fellow Rotaracters, have given him thus far.
